This study identifies the key competencies required by managers and HRD professionals to perform effectively in a knowledge-based economy. In addition, it seeks to unravel HRD professionals' perceptions of KBE. It also attempts to identify the appropriate training and development, recruitment and selection strategies for effective performance in a knowledge-based economy.
