In the future, the world will require a significantly increase of power supply especially from clean energy. By the half of 2040, the electricity demand would increase almost twice as fast as the overall usage of energy used . Hence, it is exceptionally important that a system is implemented to improve on the usage of our energy. An advantageous example is Demand-side Management (DSM) system for buildings. DSM system for the buildings is a scheme and advance technology that allow consumers to optimize their energy use in the user-friendly aspects. The advantages from DSM system are for the user to reduce their electricity bills by altering the time and quantity of electricity use. In addition, the grid can benefit from the load shifting from the peak time to the off-peak periods. Based on the updated contract capacity, the load forecasting will be enabled and implemented in the system. This would be coupled with the demand response system that will use a smart grid concept for load shifting and load shedding. The change to the demand pattern and level of electricity demand would optimize the productivity of the power generators at the grid. Overall, there would be mutual advantages to the utility grid and consumers. This project will simulate a real power system using small-scale devices with the support of MATLAB and LABVIEW. The optimization and control of the system will be done using MATLAB algorithms. LABVIEW would complete the graphical user interface by tabulating the results such as the waveforms and readings. and display an overview of the entire system.
