Project title: Study on the public’s awareness and knowledge of TCM ‘Bo Jin’ treatment as well as validating its beautification effects By: Beatrice Ng Hui Sin TCM ‘Bo Jin’ treatment is a relatively new form of beautification treatment that is widely popularized for its great beautification effects. The treatment has hit the shore of Singapore recently and thus, there is no study done on the awareness and knowledge of the treatment in Singapore. Also, despite its fame in beautification effects, there is no scientific research done on it to validate its effectiveness in the area. Thus, this study aims to assess the public’s awareness and knowledge of TCM ‘Bo Jin’ treatment as well as to validate the beautification effects of the treatment in Singapore. Two different surveys were conducted in this study. A pre-survey and a clinical survey were administered whereby 200 and 15 responds were collected respectively. Clinical observations were also made in Oriental TCM Clinic. A surprising 75.5% of the respondents were not aware of the treatment and only a few identified correctly the effects of the treatment. The treatment was found to have very good beautification effects, thus, it can be regarded as a good alternative of beautification treatment in Singapore. In light of the severe lack of awareness and knowledge, the treatment should be widely promoted so as to benefit more Singaporeans.
