There has been an acceleration in technological developments in today’s society. Numerous gadgets have infiltrated the sporting market and it seems like there is no stopping. As individuals become more affluent they are drawn to leisure activities like spectating sports. Sports events regardless of size, are held locally and internationally on a regular basis. This makes them a prime target as a recreational tool. The evaluation of the developments in recent technology developed that can enhance the quality of event, has yet to be discussed. The apparent interconnectedness between technology and sport through globalization over the last decade or two, have raised skepticism about the blessing that this tie-in can bring. Therefore, this paper examines the relationship between technology and spectators’ perceived quality of a sports event through the understanding of how technology interacts directly with athletes, coaches, event managers and corporate sponsors. It is imperative to fathom how technological advancements in the sporting sphere can positively impact the spectators’ perceived quality of the event. With that said, it is noted that there is a large pool of advantages that can be extended to spectators’ impression of the event with the increasing evolution of technology. The insights obtained through rigorous review of existing literature, can enable associated individuals to consider the implementation of technology which may enhance the spectator sport experience in the future.
