The Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) has been advertised as a Chinese political party since it was established in 1930. In multiracial-country such as Malaysia, they are often regarded as the culprit for the destruction of racial harmony and portrayed as “terrorists”. Since the peace agreements were signed by the CPM, the Malaysia government and the Thai government in 1989, the CPM will able to come out of the forest where they have been secluded for almost half a century. However, the discussion and films about CPM are still completely banned by the government. In recent years, ex-party leaders have published memoirs recording their own history to provide the public with their version of the history of the CPM. In addition, the CPM established the 10th Regiment of the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA) in order to get support from the Malays. The 10th Regiment of the MNLA is the only Malay clan and has contributed greatly to the struggle of the CPM. In Chinese academia, there is little research on the 10th Regiment and the Malay communist studies. Hence, this article intends to collate and analyse the history of the 10th Regiment through the memoirs written by Abdullah CD and Rashid Maidin, who were the leaders of the Malay communists. It aims to study how they collaborated with the leaders of the Chinese communists such as Chin Peng, Eng Ming Ching (Suriani Abdullah), Cao Qi Zhu (Selamah Binti Abdullah) and others to pay the contribution to the struggle of the CPM.
