An Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in which info-communication technologies are applied in the field of road transport, traffic management and mobility management. Its aim is to allow road users to be better informed of traffic conditions which make safer, more coordinated, and 'smarter' use of transport networks. Within it is Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication which allows interconnectivity between all with vehicles and infrastructure systems. Using dedicated short range communication (DSRC) or WAVE which is resistant to inclement weather and interference. Compatible systems are thus linked up and communications are established. Statistics by the World Health Organization suggested that 1.2 million people globally are known to die in road accidents and this does not include those suffering from both minor injuries and permanent disabilities. However, numerous car accidents could be avoided with the proper warning and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has estimated that this vehicle connectivity system can reduce unimpaired vehicle crashes by 80 percent. The speed of information transfer is extremely crucial for such a system where vehicles are constantly entering and leaving the network with differing speed. Basic safety message which is responsible for calculating and predicting warning has to be transmitted not only rapidly but also accurately. Therefore, the focus of this paper is to compare three routing protocol of the Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks which are Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR), Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) and Destination-Sequenced Distance-Vector Routing (DSDV) base on goodput, packet delivery ratio and Mac/Phy Overhead ratio.
