Microfluidics technology started around the beginning of 1980s and has been used in various applications such as DNA chip, Lab-on-a-Chip and cell counting technology etc. due to its advantages over conventional devices. Interface tissue engineering (ITE) has been widely applied to repair injured tissues at tissue interface. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to combine these two technology. Due to the novelty of these project, optimization protocols will be established. Flow rate will be 0.0044ml/min, concentration of agarose will be 3%, in-situ staining and washing will take 20 minutes. Results showed that in static culturing system, there is no gradient of calcium phosphate which support our hypothesis. In addition, results from dynamic culturing system did not show any significant gradient. Therefore, more studies have to be done to achieve this gradient. Once this platform is established, this can be translated to investigate osteochondral construct.
