      Abstract
In order to build a new development model to identify design factors for product-service systems (PSS) such as the PlayStation 3 (includes controller), this study was undertaken to realise the importance of existing development models as well as the utilization of these models to achieve the objective. The objective of this study is to implement and embody a product-service system solution in new product development, a comprehensive new design framework that allows product designers to facilitate the design factors of the product-service system in complex business environments. This paper proposes a new product-service development model to identify design factors for a product-service system by redesigning and integrating existing object-oriented (product development model) and service-oriented (service development model) concept models. It also elaborates on the type of existing models used and the methodologies taken to realise the objective. An actual PlayStation 3, controllers, video games as well as other related sources were used in the process of building the new PSS development model. The proposed model was developed based on the interaction between the product functions and the consumers’ behaviour matching with their intended design factors. In order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model, a case study involving the use of a PlayStation 3 (includes controller) was used.
