dc.description.abstractIn today’s day, we are witnessing more and more bombing incidents due to threat from terrorists. This has led to an increase in research for protection from blast bombings. FRP is a commonly used material because of material qualities such as cost effectiveness and high strength-to-weight ratio. The key to increasing the strength of the wall is to prevent fragmentation of the wall, found to be guilty of high casualty rates for bombings. This paper will show how the addition of FRP to structural components can increase the strength of the RC wall; and its ability to prevent fragments from flying around that cause damage to surrounding structures as well as humans. This report reviews research findings from available literature on the effectiveness of simulation of FRP retrofit on existing walls against blasts. Reports on Single-degree-of-freedom method and Finite Element Method will be mentioned. The findings showed that having FRP as an external reinforcement or retrofit has sufficient benefits. These improvements may be applied in design, serviceability or repair of new and existing targeted structures for protection.en_US
