The project begins by at the issue of plastic recycling at a much smaller scale and at that methods in which allow one to easily process these plastic waste in a DIY (do it yourself) manner. To repurpose the material in a simplified manner; without having to go through the entire complex government recycling system. Contrary to the situation in rural villages, cities having mainly contributed to the sheer amount of waste products through mass production of objects which are designed to be one off, instead of having multiple uses for a single object. Having been inspired by the concept of Autoprogettazione (Italian for: self-made) by the Italian godfather of design: Enzo Mari, he had expressed his concern with regards to the state of mass produced design and hopes that through the project (Autoprogettazione), it would allow people to make use of their own hands to understand what goes into the thinking of a good product. By the word Autoprogettazione, Mari means an exercise to be carried out individually to improve one’s personal understanding of the sincerity behind the project. To make this possible you are guided through an archetypal and very simple technique. Therefore the end product, although usable, is only important because of its educational value.
