      Abstract
Since the first electronic autonomous robot was created in 1950s, the impact of robots on industry and society grows rapidly. Especially in modern world, as the technology develops, sufficient researches on robotic system are required to fulfill the increasing demand on the work which human may not able to easily accomplish. Besides, the radar technology is wildly used nowadays. As an efficient method to detect object, the radar system can use radio frequency signals to detect the surrounding targets even in low-visibility environment. The utilization of the radar system could make a great improvement on the navigation and obstacle avoidance capability of the robot. The main objective of this project is to utilize a small radar system using USRP to implement the guidance of the movement of an unmanned mobile robot to find an opened door in an indoor environment. In this project, the major work includes both aspects of understanding the working principle of the radar system and developing a proper method to navigate the mobile robot automatically using the radar signal.
