Sports Engineering has been ongoing for the past few years. Research has been carried out on many fronts ranging from sports performance to injury prevention. There is a research emphasis on golf and baseball but little literature on rugby. The spheroid shaped rugby provides a more challenging analysis as compared to a typical round ball. It is possible to measure the angular velocity of the swing leg in a typical rugby drop kick, using electric goniometry measurements. The simulation of a rugby drop kick is also modeled to analyze the mechanics in a rugby drop kick and the effect it has on the ball flight.
