dc.description.abstractIn this research, a new precision shearing concept was proposed by the project supervisor A/P Thiruvarudchelvan S. It is called "Precision Blanking of Sheet Metal using Indenting and Fracture". This process involves the three major stages; in the first stage the indenter penetrates into the stock to create the upper part of a smooth-sheared surface, secondly the punch and die create the lower part of the smooth-sheared surface, and finally the blank is fractured and the counter punch ejects the finished part out. The indenting timing, indenting force, indenting depth, cutting clearance and counter pressure are important parameters.en_US
