We always say "if" when we think about a possible or imagined situation. The point is not for people to come up with the correct answer but to think about what might happen. Looking at the current care giving situation in Singapore, I think it is fair to say that most people are not prepared for the day when they have to take on the role of being a caregiver. It is usually thrust upon you when a loved one takes ill and all of a sudden, you have to learn how to be a caregiver, instantly. We avoid thinking about topics like this. We delay seeking information for ourselves or for our loved ones. We are living in the time of an aging population and higher life expectancy. As we live longer than before, care giving touches the lives of more of us ever before. By acting quickly, by making our preparations, and by educating ourselves, we are able to shape our journey and get ahead of the problem. IF is a project that aims to take the viewer back into an environment that they are familiar with, to get them to think about the possibilities of what might happen when they take on the role of a caregiver. Through the use of everyday objects, the project brings emphasis to this role by showing that even simple tasks of our everyday life can be overwhelming in the world of care giving. The project has three main parts- “Time”, “Self” and “Dialogue”.en_US
