Microalgae have a wide range of applications in biofuel production, wastewater treatment, health supplements and numerous other areas. Areal production of microalgae utilizing solar radiation is a common energy and cost-saving approach, yet productivity of microalgae has always been low mainly due to ineffective light provision.
