Abstract
Electricity storage offers major added value for the energy sector, especially when combined with wind power generating capacity on a large scale. Energy storage increases the technical reliability of the power supply, stabilizes the cost of electricity and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emission.
Large-scale energy storage systems can facilitate the integration of variable renewable energy generation. Off-peak, energy can be stored, which can be injected into the grid at peak demand. Storage systems can also flatten the load curve, requiring less peak production capacity.
Large-scale energy storage is already applied in many countries worldwide. Good results have been achieved with storage facilities in countries like Germany, Austria, Norway, the UK and the USA.
In this report, we will study the design of a wind farm and the evaluation on the benefit of Energy storage system on a wind farm.
