Service-level specifications of multimedia streams for diffentiated services (DiffServ)
Date of Issue2002
School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
This dissertation investigate the classification of multimedia streams based on their transmission rate, media type, synchronization requirements and persistency characteristics, and then proposes a mapping of the classification to the SLS parameters for DiffServ operation. The dissertation also suggests an end-to-end QoS delivary mechanism to work with the DiffServ architecture to ensure that end-to-end QoS guarantees are maintained across synchronized media streams.
