The objective of this Final Year Project (FYP) is to synthesize and characterize the physical properties of poly (ethylene glycol) diacrylate hydroxyapatite (PEGDA-HA) composite hydrogels, and hence, determine the material’s suitability as a biodegradable bone adhesive. Hydroxyapatite was added to help promote adhesion to bone, and perhaps also help in enhancing bone cell growth. PEGDA was added in 10%, 20% and 30% amounts, while HA was varied by 1%, 3% and 5%. The hydrogels were then compared to controls without HA.
