ATR FTIR spectroscopic study of dentine

Objectives To characterize changes in the chemical composition and structure of dentine surfaces after exposure to sodium hypochlorite, ethylenediaminetetracetic acid (EDTA), calcium hydroxide solutions or their combination using excellent surface layer analysis techniques: Total Attenuated Reflectance Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR ) and Raman spectroscopy. Methodology An experimental 5.25 percent sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) solution, 17 percent, PH 7.4 EDTA solution and saturated calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) solution were prepared; crown dentine was acquired from freshly extracted molars, they were then cut and ground into slices with around 500micron thickness.
