As the use of plastic parts increase in various segments of the appliance and electronics industries, the advancements in solid modeling technologies and subsequent changes in the injection molding industry have created the need for more complex and diverse assembly solutions. Heat staking is the process of connecting different components into a cohesive functioning unit. The application is very common with the assembly of products that involve plastic and resin parts due to the ease of plastic bonding, and high volume but low cost. As such, the heat stacking machine is needed to perform the heat staking process and helps to strengthen the overall structure of the manufactured item and provide the product with a higher degree of stability. In heat staking, plastic studs are protruding from the “middle housing” which is made by PC\ABS [Polycarbonate Alloy (PC)/ Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)] and fits into corresponding holes in the “light guide”. The tips of the studs are heated at the setting temperature of 200 °C at pressure of 2 Bar and staking time of 10 seconds, they gets flattened and forming a “head” to keep the two parts from separating.
