This is an empirical study of employers' perception of the importance of an MBA degree for promotion or appointment to managerial positions. A questionnaire was used to obtain responses from employers. The questionnaire was administered to a random sampling of 647 private corporations, statutory boards and government bodies, executive search firms and management consultants and students of an MBA programme in the Nanyang Technological University. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA and Duncan tesLs were employed to analyze the responses.
