This study explored how work related information is shared within the Singapore's Institute of Technical Education's Industry-based Training Division (IBT), and uncovered some of the knowledge sharing attitudes held by the staff. The study found that the interpersonal network was the most important source for knowledge sharing and knowledge seeking endeavours, and that IBT staff preferred to share in informal settings. Another encouraging finding was that the IBT staff wanted to learn more about how things are done in ITE, regardless of whether the information was directly related to their area of work of not. IBT staff shared what they knew with others because of intrinsic values associated with knowledge sharing, i.e. appreciation, good feelings. Staff also did not fear an erosion in their organisational position if they shared knowledge with their colleagues. The factors that were thought to promote apprehension among staff did not have a strong showing. IBT staff did not have the fear of being ridiculed when having their knowledge shared, and believed that whatever they had to share was worthwhile and beneficial to others.
