本论文主要研究新加坡独立至今低中年级小学华文课本中的儿童文学选材。儿童是国家未来的主人翁，教科书里的儿童文学选材扮演着举足轻重的角色，是儿童知识的来源、人格塑造的依循、掌握语文的管道及教师教学的重要素材。可是长期以来，我们对儿童文学美学教育的重视却普遍匮乏、不足。论文探讨在新加坡小学华语文教育中，儿童文学选材与教学之问题，并通过历史的脉络发展阐述新加坡一路走来所经历过的政治、语言、社会、教育背景如何影响教科书中的儿童文学选材。论文也探究在不同时期，儿童文学选材有什么特色，其意义与价值。从中国化、马来亚化、南洋化、本土化到国际化的过程中，儿童文学选材怎样受国内外种种因素的影响而起起落落。This dissertation is a study of children's literary content in Lower Primary School Chinese textbooks found in Singapore since our Independence. The selection of children's literary content in the textbooks plays a vital role in moulding our future; not only as a source of knowledge for our children, but it also provides guidance towards the shaping of their personality. Furthermore, it is the pipeline to master the Chinese language and therefore it is an important teaching material for teachers. Unfortunately, children's literary aesthetic education has been neglected and is seemingly inadequate in Singapore. This thesis discusses the issue of teaching and materials selection of children's literature in Singapore Primary School Chinese language education, and thread through a historical context on how political, linguistic, social and educational background of Singapore affects the selection of children's literary content in the local textbooks. At different times, children's literature selection has different special features, importance and values. In the progressive examination of teaching materials, different emphasis were noticed, namely those that focus on China, Malaya, Southeast Asia, thence localization and internationalization. It was noted that factors at home and abroad had an impact on the selection of children's literary content.
