To assess the clinical utility of the premarital inventory, PREPARE (PREmarital Personal And Relationship Evaluation) in Singapore, a study was carried out using a sample of 31 "happy" and 13 "unhappy" couples. In the first instance, there were statistically significant differences between "happy" and "unhappy" couples with respect to marital satisfaction. The results showed that "happy" couples had a higher mean score on the KMSS than "unhappy" couples, indicating that the KMSS could differentiate between the two groups of couples. Hence, the division of the sample into two groups was justified. The results also indicated that gender differences in marital satisfaction were more pronounced in "unhappy" marriages.
