This study thus explores how values and value priorities may influence the motivation of overweight and obese individuals towards exercise and dietary patterns. The conceptualisation values will indicate that it is a whole system at work rather than that of an individual value. The study is based on the research design of Schwartz (1992) who defined values as desirable, transsituational goals, varying in importance, that serve as guiding principles in people’s lives.
