Optimal model reduction and reduced order filtering for discrete-time systems

The problem of model reduction covers a wide spectrum of methodologies and applications. In view of its practical significance, a great deal of effort has been devoted to this problem and a well-developed theoretical foundation has been set up based on a variety of approximation criteria. In this thesis, the problems of optimal model reduction and reduced order filtering for linear discrete time systems are considered.
