      Abstract
The study aims to develop densification acceptance criteria for sandfill that is appropriate for limiting the settlements of superstructures on reclaimed land. The effects of sand density, soil fabric and prestress on the compressibility of sand that governs settlement of structures on sand were investigated in the laboratory. Relationships between the coefficient of earth pressure at rest, Ko, the overconsolidation ratio, OCR and the sand compressibility were studied.
