This thesis examined a global stock market returns database of 71 banks on their profitability and systematic risk. It is concluded that there was no significant evidence that Islamic banks were less profitable and more risky than non-Islamic banks. In fact, the results suggested that Islamic banks may be more profitable and less risky than conventional and hybrid banks.
